Symptoms:
Deafness and vestibular dysfunction is a hereditary neurological disease affecting the development of the inner ears in Doberman Pinschers. The Doberman Pinscher is one of the few breeds that experience deafness associated with vestibular disease signs. Symptoms of deafness can range from mild to severe and are present by 3 weeks of age. Affected dogs also exhibit other neurological abnormalities, such as:
- Head tilt
- Abnormal eye movements
- Circling
- Uncoordinated limb usage
